Kanye West has scored a win in his case against the founders of the virtual currency Coinye.
Check out the details.
According to court documents obtained by “Billboard,” a New York court issued a judgement in Kanye West’s favor after many of the defendants failed to respond to the rapper’s copyright infringement lawsuit. Of the company’s founders that did respond, Kanye ended up cutting deals with three of them. Kanye came out on top in the lawsuit, but he may have a hard time collecting any damages because many of Coinye‘s founders are from outside the United States.
Coinye launched in January as a virtual currency similar to the more popular Bitcoin. Initially named “Coinye West,” the company looked to further capitalize on Kanye’s popularity by using an animated image of the rapper as its logo.
