Anton Yelchin, who is known for playing Chekov in the latest “Star Trek” installments, was found dead at his home Sunday morning. He died from injuries after his car pinned him between a metal security gate and a brick mailbox at his home. The actor was 27. Police do not suspect foul play in his death.
Yelchin’s friends found him around 1 a.m. after the actor failed to show up for a planned rehearsal. TMZ reported that his car was in neutral and its engine was running. The driveway at the property was on a steep hill, but according to a new report, the model of Jeep that the actor owned had been recalled for “rollaway risk.” 248,667 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees were recalled in April for defects.
Yelchin began his career as an actor appearing in small films and television shows, including ‘ER,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and “The Practice,” He has appeared in several films including “The Smurfs,” “Along Came A Spider,” “Charlie Bartlett,” and his biggest casting to date has been the recent Star Trek films. The third film, “Star Trek Beyond,” is set to release in July.
