A fraction with the same numerator (number on top) as another but with a smaller denominator (number on bottom) is a larger number. For example 1/2 is bigger than 1/3 which is bigger than 1/4, etc. That is because if you divide 1 by 2, you get 0.5 but 1 divided by 3 is only 0.333 and 1 divided by 4 is only 0.25. So 1/3 is bigger.
1/3 is bigger because if you draw a picture that explains it, you would see that more is shaded in on the number 1/3.have a nice day:)
