Considering an example of football :-
When we kick the ball, it goes through a parabolic path whose equation is given by :-
y = ax² + bx + c
where 'c' is the y-intercept of parabolic curve on coordinate plane.
Depending upon the initial conditions, the value of c varies.
It says the ball starts out on the ground before being kicked, it means y-intercept is on ground i.e. c = 0.
Now the equation would become :- y = ax² + bx.
It says to find corresponding value of y when x=0.
Plugging x=0 in the above equation :-
y = a(0)² + b(0)
y = 0
So, final answer is y = 0.
