An ecosystem that occurs within shallow tropical waters and supports an abundance of diversity is called a coral reef. Coral reefs are some of the most important and largest parts of the marine ecosystem (they even affect our day to day life), they provide food and shelter for many marine animals, and also protect our coastline when large tropical storms hit.
