Use the ^ symbol (Shift+6 on the keyboard) to signify an exponent. For example, for 2 to the third power, enter 2^3. The domain for f(x) and g(x) is the set of all real numbers. Let f(x) = 5x2 − 4x and g(x) = 5x + 1. Find f + g. Incorrect feedback has been removed from the screen. Fill in the blank text field 1

Solution

f(x) = 5[tex]x^{2}[/tex] - 4x

and g(x) = 5x + 1

f + g is nothing but addition of f(x) and g(x)

Therefore, f + g = f(x) + g(x)

= 5[tex]x^{2}[/tex] - 4x + 5x + 1

Simplify the like terms, here -4x and 5x are the like terms.

f + g = 5[tex]x^{2}[/tex] + 1x + 1              [ 5x - 4x = 1x which is nothing but x]

f + g = 5[tex]x^{2}[/tex]+ x + 1

Thank you :)
