Select the correct sentence. A. I feel well about starting my new classes this semester. B. Despite her inexperience, Helen did surprisingly well in the gymnastic competition. C. Justin has a great sense of humor and can tell a joke really good. D. That tie looks well with your shirt.

Respuesta :

Hello.

In this case, correct sentence is B. Despite her inexperience, Helen did surprisingly well in the gymnastic competition.

Well: adverb

Good: adjetive

We must use adverbs (well) to modify a verbs, in this case (did).

In letter A, we would have to use an adjetive (good) to describe the subject. (I feel)

In letter C, we would have to use ab adverb (well) as a modifier for the verb.

Finally, in letter D,  we would have to use an adjetive again (good) to describe the subject (that tie)

Hope this helps. Mark as brainliest, please.

B. Despite her inexperience, Helen did surprisingly well in the gymnastic competition. This is the correct answer. " Well" functions generally as an adverb, so here it refers to the way  Helen " did" or  performed in the competition. "Well" is attached to the verb "did".

These sentences are wrong.

A. I feel well about starting my new classes this semester.  The correct version would be: " to feel good about..". This means happy. "To feel well" means to be in goog health. In this case, "well" functions as an adjective and it means healthy.

C. Justin has a great sense of humor and can tell a joke really good. " Well" should have been used instead of good. "..can tell a joke really well..". Well would tell the manner in which Justin told the joke.

D. That tie looks well with your shirt. "Good" should have been used instead of " well". " ...tie looks good.." Sense verbs are followed by adjectives. To look good is the same as to be good.
