The ideas of Andrew Jackson led to the founding of the Democratic Party.
Andrew Jackson (1767-1845) was the seventh president of the United States from 1829 to 1837. Jackson was also an American soldier and statesman. As president, Jackson sought to advance the rights of the "common man"against a "corrupt aristocracy". Creating the "Jacksonian democracy", a political movement in the US, that expanded suffrage to most white men and restructured a number of federal institutions.
