Lying is wrong because first you lose peoples trust. And you lose peoples respect and lose peoples frienships or relationships .If you believe in God then lying is a sin and punishable by going to hell.when you lie it ruins your reputation.back in the old day when they didnt have contracts you had to give your word you will pay off a car payment or morgage. If you didnt you will never be trusted in that town at all ever

Don't know much about writing esseys in english and that's not a lie, you'll see...yet I would try to convince myself that writing about something one believes to be true although not using the brightest style is good exercise.

Wise people say : a white lie never harmed anybody. Is it a question of expressing in the best manner what one believes to be true or trying to avoid harming other people's feelings with the truth one holds to be absolute?

Let's suppose you meet everyday at least three situations that defy at least three laws of logic that you know. Do you believe the situation to be true or just an atribute of a form of existance? Do you make it right? Do you try to adapt ( by forgetting what you've learned so far)?

Take plagiarizing for example: to a certain extent is fine, an essey as a sum of citings is acceptable now ( God only knows for how long). Is it a white lie within boundries, is it a grey area? To be totally honest with myself I would judge it depending on a few other variables like the coherence of the thought, the convergence between ones thoughts and one's statements ( the identity in significance of the terms used in a dialog or essey).

Defining lying is sometimes as easy as it is to ly, yet the outstanding feature of a ly is "the short leg". Is a joke a ly? There is a well known article about what brings out humor in a speech and some of the above mentioned features like the gaps in undertanding when using the same terms for different notions (is a surprise a ly?)

So lying can create false refference points consequently leading to false conclusions (Brutus for example was an honourable man they say and yet that's just literature)

Not knowing the truth on the other hand is not necessarily a ly, guessing about it just because one needs to believe (in) something may lead to some sort of lying though.

I guess in scientific terms I might have just exemplified how different types of biases impare on the laws of reason although it might have been usefull to think of white lies in terms of free will, awareness, consciousness and cognition or how to explain for different types of age groups why lying is not exactly what one should do to fullfill a role or gain a status

For example: how do you convince a six years old child that the family where he was brought up is not his natural family or to convice a mother that the man who killed her son was not convicted for murder because of his personal circumstances without using some fantasy variables or adopt the Solomonesque aproach and squeeze the truth in between the lines?

If acting is a type of lying then being a good actor implies being a proffesional liar (a hypocrite?) or just an opened minded person who finds at least two solutions for the same problem?

Hope this helps although I didn't really find the answers for you and probably I should have written twice as much.
