In his essay "Civil Disobedience," Henry David Thoreau wrote "That government is best which governs least." Which answer best shows how this motto reflects transcendentalist principles?

Respuesta :

The transcendentalism was an ideology that shaped America, It's writers expressed their new ideas in an individualistic and rebellious way. With organizations like United Nations, The League of Nations and others, dedicated to human rights and democracy, bringing the world closer together.

Henry David Thoreau can be thought of as the core of trascendentalism, along with Ralph Waldo Emerson and Walt Whitman. Their main works present the major ideas/principles of transcendentalism: freethinking, individual growth, rebellion and non conformity towards stablished institutions.

Civil Disobedience's quote "That government is best which governs least" defends that the lives of the citizens must not be affected by its government any more than is necessary to protect their rights to life, liberty and the pursue of happiness, as stated by Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence.

If you are on PLATO, the answer should be D. I hope this helps! Please crown me brainliest!

Reason:

The writer wants to say with that sentence that An ideal nation is one that is not governed by a monarchy or dictatorship. The true is that he meant the government must listen the voices of the civilians and let the civilians make their own decisions. In that way the government would be more prosperous.
