You can find your pulse using the radial arteries that run down the undersides of your arms into your hands. Radial arteries are not as large as carotids. You must make a fist with one hand before using the index and middle fingers of your other hand to press down on the artery to find it. Another way to measure your heart rate is by pressing gently on the carotid artery, located on either side of the neck, as it is the main artery that pushes blood up to the brain and its tissues. Once you have found your pulse, count the number of heartbeats you feel within ten seconds and multiply that number by six for the most accurate number of heartbeats felt within one minute.
