I believe the answer should be B. tercets
Tercets are the basic unit of a form known as the villanelle, which follows an ABA rhyme scheme and has two refrains that repeat throughout the poem

This poem is written in the form of a villanelle. A traditional villanelle has 19 lines split into 5 tercets and a quatrain. And that's what Thomas has in this poem.

Since the question uses the singular noun (which type), the answer is B.

After all, C says "quatrains", and Thomas has just one quatrain as there can only be one quatrain in a traditional villanelle.
