A sentence expresses a complete thought having a subject and a predicate; whereas, a fragment is a phrase that expresses an incomplete thought because this is usually disconnected from a sentence. The phrase given, "While claude sets up the bookshelves" is an example of a fragment sentence.

On the other hand, a fragment is a small part broken or separated off something. You might think of a fragment as a broken piece of pottery.
