In this part of the story, it wouldn’t be “fair” for the viewer to watch these beautiful dancers on stage, as it would make them feel ugly and worthless. So, to fix this, the ballerinas faces were covered by masks and the were forced to carry weight that would make their dance less graceful and more burdensome.
