Mutation is sudden heritable change. When a change is genetic( a change that occurs in the male and female sex cell) it brings about a change in Evolution because it can be passed from generation to generation leading to change in existing traits or characteristics, some change alter protein function. Some mutation are deleterious and cannot be passed on hence they are lost with time.
Genetic Mutation is important because of the change they cause and it ability to be transferred from generation to generation which give rise to new traits and characters, alteration of gene and genotype frequency that result in evolution.
