PLEASE HELP
The Chase
by Ana Marjava
I walk down the street to you
to greet you at the light.
I see you there with golden hair,
your hands are out of sight.
5 I spree between the stalls to you,
the vendors wave their wares.
The smells of grains and meats blow-by.
I frolic to the stairs
to follow you down steps and flights—
10 you are moving way too fast.
My efforts are all at once quite lame
as sirens blare and blast.
I see you turning toward the bay.
I try to call your name.
15 Your hands I wish to hold once more
to make you mine again.
I step across the curb and grate.
The ground beneath me moves.
The asphalt once inflexible
20 now with music grooves.
I catch my breath and say, "oh well"
You turn, now here's the thing.
I see your hand and from it shines
a sparkling wedding ring.
