Is McIntosh's full name William McIntosh, and was he chief of the Lower Creeks in early-nineteenth-century Georgia? (Want to make sure I am talking about the right person)

I can't remember exactly, but I think it had something to do with him being afraid that the General Assembly would take away his land, property, and more rights like that.

I could also be thinking of the wrong person. I am not 100% sure.

McIntosh would send a gift to the General Assembly to secure his identity and his tribes in America.

William McIntosh was one of the chiefs of the Creek Nation.
He maintained a good relationship with the Georgia government as he signed treaties that took most of the Creek land for white settlement.
By maintaining good relations he was able to secure his land and property from others confiscating it.

Therefore we can justify that maintaining good relations with the government was beneficial for him.
