Dear Mrs. Bentley,
Thank you for being such a great help to me during Tom's illness. I don't know what I would have done without you. I really appreciate all you’ve done for my family during a difficult time. Since you joined our family as a nanny three years ago, my life has been so much easier. That is why I feel terrible to inform you that we have to let you go. I lay awake all night thinking about how to break it to you. I thought about my decision a hundred times before writing this letter. I am terribly sorry, Mrs. Bentley. If I had my way, you would stay with us for many more years. But with Tom’s illness and Reggie’s unemployment, we can’t afford a nanny anymore.
