Music in Africa is not written down but transmitted orally.  Everyone  participates.  There are many interesting characteristics which make African music unique.

Explanation:

The uniqueness of African music plays out in the everyday life of Africans.  They use it in religious ceremonies, at festivals, and for social rituals.  They use it to cure the sick, bring rains, celebrate birthdays, marriages, and deaths.  Always played outdoors, at all social occasions.
