His actions did cause OTHERS to use violence but he always said no that is wasn't right and never used violence himself. And according to the 4th ammendment we are allowed for Freedom of Speech. So Martin Luther King Jr. never broke any laws. So no, his actions did not contradict his non-violence philosophy.
