They left because they didn't want Lincoln as president because his opinions and purposes were seen as hostile to slavery. They believed that each state had its own independence and right to leave.

The four candidates supported different ideology. They included issues concerning Succession, the relationship between the federal government, the state and it's territories and issues on slavery and abolition.

A country is a distinct nation with it's territorial body or entity, occupying a particular territory and has it's own government. A country has sovereign powers within it's territory and they have laws that govern them.

In 1860, four candidates left because they were not in support of President Lincoln being elected. They raised a number of issues which were of serious concern and because it was not addressed properly, they left.
