The function of the stomach is to churn and turn the food into a liquid called chyme.

The stomach also releases pepsinogen and hydrochloric acid which mixes to produce pepsin.

Pepsin emulsifies protein and then the contents move through the pyloric sphyncter and into the small intestine for further breakdown and digestion
