solutions:

a)

h = ½.g.t²

97 = ½. 10.t²

97 = 5.t²

t² = 97/5 = 19.4

t =√19.4 = 4.4

the ball will remain in the air

for 4.4 s

b)

Vt = g. t

= 10 × 4,4

= 44 m/s

the balls speed before striking the ground

= 44 m/s
