Although is the subordinating conjunction. It is used to contrast two different thoughts into the sentence. A subordinating conjunction can begin a sentence or go in the middle. Choice B

Although is a subordinating conjunction. It begins the adjectival clause "Although he had never tried it" which is dependent upon the rest of the sentence. Pronouns take the place of nouns. Examples of relative pronouns are who, whom, whose. Personal pronouns are I, you, he, she, it... Prepositions tell you where one noun is in relation to another such as in, on, out, over, under.
