Ratio of jar A to jar B = 3 : 8

Jar B = 1/2 of A + B

= 1/2 × 3 + 8

= 3/2 + 8

= (3+16) /2

= 19/2

Jar A = 3 - 1/2

= (6-1) /2

= 5/2

New ratio of jar A to jar B = 5/2 : 19/2

= 5/2 ÷ 19/2

= 5/2 × 2/19

= 5/19

= 5 : 19
