In the picture attached Mughal emperor, Shah Alam II is seen granting Robert Clive, leader of the East India Company’s army, the ability to collect taxes in Bengal.

Who is Robert Clive?

Robert Clive was a British military personnel and the first British Administrator of Bengal. He was part of the team that created the first British power in India.

A) How did the event reflect changes in the global balance of power?

Having secured it's place in Bengal, Britain capitalized on the power of the company to drive out the Dutch and French Dutch out of the Indian subcontinent, thus shifting power to Great Britain.

B)  One of the major event was that Robert Clive used the taxes collected from Bengal to buy Indian goods then export them to England. This increased the economic power of Britain.

C) In the 19th century one of the most significant changes in the relationship between South Asia and Great Britain was that there was a conquest that led Britain to cease control in the whole of India.
