A scale factor or the similarity ratio is the ratio of two similar geometric figures of their corresponding sides, volumes or areas. The scale factor is calculated by locating the corresponding sides on each figure, calculating the volumes and areas and dividing them.

similarity ratio = 2197 m^3 / 512 m^3 = 4.3

In similarity, (ratio of sides)^3 = ratio of volumes.  

Therefore, to find the ratio between side, we get the cubic root of the ratio between volumes :).  

Here, we are going to find the cubic root of (2197/512), which is equal to: 13/8
