Raymond's behavior in class can probably best be explained as satisfying his need for arousal. As what is being described, the discussion of the teacher is done in a dry and unengaging manner. Surely, it would bore the students even to the point they would feel sleepy. So, to prevent this students would feel a need to do something so as to wake theirselves up or an ice breaker. Raymond should have felt this way that is why he do stuff like drawing faces on his fingers and doing a puppet show. He needs to satisfy the feeling of wanting to be energetic and alive in a boring and unengaging class.
