While Clinton easily passed the North American Free Trade Act through Congress with heavy republican and democrat support, the bill was met with constant heavy criticism from presidential candidate Ross Perot. He outlined the future job losses that would occur as businesses fled America in favor of running factories in countries like Mexico where employess would work for half as much as American workers.
