There are lines in the maps of any country. The type of imaginary line runs parallel to the equator on a map is Longitude.

  • The imaginary lines circling the globe in an east-west direction are called the lines of latitude. They can be  parallels or said to be  parallel to the equator. They are often used to measure the distances that exist north and south of the equator.
