During photosynthesis, plants trap sunlight. Plants use the energy of the sun to change water and carbon dioxide into a sugar called glucose. Glucose is used by plants for energy.

6CO2 + 6H2O + light energy = C6H12O6 + 6O2.
Chloroplast, usually on a plants leaf absorbs sun rays and chemically combine the sun rays and oxygen in result of glucose and carbon dioxide.
