Alice Walker was the American writer who was the eighth child of Georgia sharecroppers. Her full name is Alice Malsenior Walker and she was born on 9th of February in the year 1944. The hugely acclaimed book name “The Color Purple” written in the year 1982 not only won the National Book Award but also the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. The books “Meridian” and “The Third Life of Grange Copeland” are considered some of her famous works. walker was actually born in Putnam county of Georgia.
