Sean “Diddy” Combs, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Ludacris and many others from the world of hip-hop are mourning the loss of Chris Lighty. The popular manager, who worked with Combs, 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, LL Cool J and more, died Thursday at the age of 44. Combs sent out a tweet saying simply “in shock,” while Diggy Simmons also said he was shocked to lose someone he considered to be not just a manager, but a member of his family. Another Lighty client, Soulja Boy, said the news was hard to believe since he only talked to Chris a few days ago.

Nicki Minaj called it “another tragic and inconceivable loss for the culture,” while Rihanna and Ludacris were among the many people who posted out “RIP” tweets. Other stars who sent out their condolences via the social network include DJ Khaled, Chuck D, Trey Songz, Talib Kweli, Joe Budden, Mary J. Blige, Fat Joe and more.

Sources tell the “New York Daily News” the 44-year-old managing mogul put a gun to his head and fired after an argument with his ex-wife at their Bronx apartment Thursday morning. The two reportedly divorced last year. Law enforcement sources say Lighty may have also been dealing with financial troubles. He reportedly owed the IRS five-million-dollars. Lighty founded Violator Management after working for years under the guidance of rap mogul Russell Simmons and Lyor Cohen at Rush Management.
