Kelis is returning this summer with her fifth studio release. Kelis will be releasing her upcoming album, “Flesh Tone,” on July 6th. The record will be released on will.i.am’s Music Group, and features production from the likes of will.i.am, DJ Ammo and Boys Noize. The first single off “Flesh Tone” is the David Guetta assisted “Acapella.” The track was inspired by Kelis’ son Knight. She describes the song as a, quote, “end-of-the world child type thing.” She tells MTV News, quote, “There is a Native American element to it and an African element to it and an Asian element to it. It’s really tribal and kind of surreal at the same time.”
Kelis’ last album was 2006’s “Kelis Was Here.” The record opened at number ten on the Billboard 200 chart, earning Kelis a 2007 Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album.
