Manute Bol, jokester, humanitarian, and former player for the Washington Bullets and other NBA teams, died at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.  At 7 ft. 7 inches, Bol was the tallest player in NBA history (tied later by Gheorghe Muresan, who also played for the Bullets). When the Bullets also drafted point guard Mugsy Bogues, 5 ft. 3 inches, the two played as the tallest and shortest players in league history for one season. Bol died at 47 from acute kidney failure and complications from Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a disease that caused him to lose patches of his skin. May he rest peacefully and his legacy lives on. Written by: Courtney L.
