Reality TV star Flavor Flav is about to become a real public enemy for failing to pay child support. Flav whose real name is William Jonathan Drayton Jr. â€” faces a 180-day jail sentence for failing to pay more than $111,186 to an Albany woman who gave birth to three of his seven children, the Daily News has learned.
An Albany County magistrate recommended the jail sentence and the revocation of his driverâ€™s license and passport after the aging hip-hop star failed to show up for a hearing this week, county officials said.
â€œIt was declared a willful violation,â€ an official said of Draytonâ€™s failure to pay child support.
The rapper, who rose to fame as a member of the 1980s group Public Enemy and became known for the phrase â€œYeah boy,â€ must appear in Albany Family Court on June 19.
Drayton, 53, did not respond to a message left for him at his Las Vegas soul food restaurant, Flavor Flavâ€™s House of Flavor.
Draytonâ€™s Bronx lawyer was also unavailable for comment.
Under a support agreement, Drayton is required to pay $837.72 a week to Angie Parker of Albany to support the coupleâ€™s three children.
Flav has seven children: Shaniq, Dazyna, Quanah, William, Jasmine, Kayla, and Karma.Â Three of his children were with Karen Ross, three were with Angie Parker,Â and his current girlfriend Liz is the mother of his youngest, Karma.Â
Currently Flavor Flav is living in Las Vegas, Nevada with his girlfriend, and her son Gibran.
