Hank Aaron’s quest to break Babe Ruth’s home run record is being made into a movie.
“The Hollywood Reporter” says producers Mike Tollin and Glenn Rigberg have acquired the rights to Howard Bryant’s book “The Last Hero: A Life of Henry Aaron.”
Director Barry Levinson and writer Adam Mazer will also be participating in the project, while Aaron will serve as a consultant.
Can’t wait…
The film will take place between 1972 and 1974, as Aaron received hate mail and death threats on his way to surpassing Ruth’s 714 career home runs.
Aaron says it was a “difficult” period in his life, but is “confident we can all learn a little something from looking back at those times.” A debut date for the upcoming biopic has not been announced.
