mandela-cover-580The hip-hop world is mourning the death of former South African President Nelson Mandela.  On Twitter, Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons calls the human rights leader

“an angel walking on this Earth…he was one of the greatest teachers this world has ever known.”

In addition, popular magazine The New Yorker paid tribute to the fallen leader as well.  See what other members of the Hip Hop community had to say about the loss of this great leader below.

“the greatest humans this planet has ever known…a true representative of “love, courage, sacrifice and strength.”

Busta Rhymes called Mandela

“one of our last truly great…a great man & great mind”.

Nelson Mandela passed away Thursday at the age of 95.  Mandela became South Africa’s first black president in 1994 after fighting against apartheid in the nation.
