The homie Janelle Monáe received 2 distinct awards from Harvard College from their premiere Women’s Center. Harvard College Women’s Center has this to say about why they chose Janelle Monáe,
“This award seeks to acknowledge a prominent performer who tackles questions of identity including sex, gender, and sexuality, in their performances. Throughout her career, Janelle Monáe has highlighted the important women in her life and inspired countless others to achieve excellence.

In addition, Janelle Monáe was also recognized as the 2014 Woman of the Year by the Black Men’s Forum at Harvard College. The award celebrates a trailblazing professional who has made remarkable contributions in their respective field. Past recipients include Phylicia Rashad and Jada Pinkett-Smith.
