Earlier this year Jay-Z inked a deal with Duracell appointing him as an investor, as well as being the face and spokesman for the Duracell Powermat, which will allow cell phone users to charge their phones wirelessly through “wireless power hot spots”.

Duracell Powermat’s commercial features HOV’s hit single “Run This Town.” The commercial features a New Yorker running up and down Manhattan with a holographic power meter that displays his phone power. With the Duracell Powermat, the New Yorker spends his entire day from early morning business meetings to an afternoon lunch date to a concert in the evening. All the while his phone’s battery life never goes below 90 percent. The New Yorker in the commercial never worry about his phone’s battery life. Later in the commercial, he just so happens to run into Hova himself at a nightclub, just as the Jay-Z receives a phone call from someone listed as “B”. Hmm, wonder who that could be?

In a recent press release, Jay-Z explained why he endorsed the Duracell Powermat.
“I believe in the future of wireless energy and I believe that Duracell Powermat is the company to bring on the revolution,” said Jay. “I’m partnering with Duracell Powermat because they’re providing the solutions for the future.”
