After five years of leading one of the nation’s top historical black colleges, President Robert M. Franklin  has decided to step down when his term ends on June 30, 2012. The 57-year old Franklin came in as the school’s tenth president. He will now become a Distinguished Professor for the university. But for some reason being from the AUC I know there’s more to the story!!!
Franklin says:
“I look forward to a sabbatical, during which I intend to travel, write, speak and interview leaders about the condition of black boys and men in the U.S. and around the globe, research that I began years ago in my book, “Crisis in the Village,†said Franklin.
“I am grateful to the Board of Trustees for the invitation to return as President Emeritus and Distinguished Professor of Social Ethics, and the opportunity to continue supporting the mission of Morehouse in a different way.â€
Franklin graduated from Morehouse class of 1975.
He was also the Presidential Distinguished Professor of Social Ethics at Emory University and president of the Interdenominational Theological Center. Professor Franklin’s tenure included a controversial period that involved a direct confrontation with gay activists on campus. President Franklin took issue with an article on Vibe called “The Mean Girls of Morehouse,†which described a homosexual subculture on the Morehouse campus.
I don’t know why he’s stepping down but I know its some drama behind it!!!! What do you think?
It’s more to this story that you all are actually telling us.
There always some kind of drama in the black community what is really new.
Very good president he is 😉 http://www.cigs4girls.com/
