Raven-Symone is no longer tolerating the hurtful comments! She is making it known that she stands by her beliefs about labeles and people should keep their negativity to themselves.
Check out details below!
Actress Raven-Symone has done her best to clarify her statement about her wish not to be labeled as “African-American” and “gay” in her recent interview with media mogul Oprah Winfrey. However, her best has not been good enough apparently and this weekend, she took to her Facebook page over the weekend and penned an open letter to discuss the myriad of negative responses she and others who support her comments have received:
Keep your disrespectful, mean, hurtful words in a diary for yourself. Personal attacking is not needed, and no matter what race, nationality, culture, or womb you came out of; strive for respect. Strive to be virtuous, so the conversation can lead to great things, other things.
Raven seems to be happy that her thoughts on the lack of labels have started a national (dare I say global?!) conversation concerning race, but she is disappointed with the direction that it has taken:
I don’t take offense to those that are mad at my personal opinion of myself. Like before, I’m glad there are conversations happening. Our generation tends to stay comfortable, at times, with issues and topics that need to be addressed.
QUESTION: If we are taught not to repeat history by learning it, why do we continue to repeat? We must not be learning it correctly.
Honestly, we are proud of Raven-Symone taking a stand for her beliefs and her ability to stay in a positive mindset about the entire situation. Hopefully, the backlash will die down and she will not feel the need to discuss the issue again.
Poor Raven, clearly she’s confused and in denial…Please seek Jesus girlfriend.
