Hollywood Reporter recently revealed that “Red Tails” did better than producers expected it would. In its opening weekend, the movie brought in as much as $19.1 million and a position of top 2, directly after “Undeworld Awakening” which grossed $25.4 million.
Producer George Lucas reportedly spent 20 years pursuing the project. He recently revealed that he couldn’t get any studio to finance the film with an all black cast. So, he finally spent his own money. He used his own $58 million in production and $35 million in distribution costs.
Looks like the movie is paying off the hard work and determination for Lucas.
