Authorities are saying they believe Death Row Records founder Suge Knight was the target in this weekend’s nightclub shooting that left him and two others hospitalized in West Hollywood.

Shug Knight was shot soon after he arrived at a pre-VMAs party hosted by Chris Brown at the 1OAK nightclub early yesterday morning.  L.A. County Sheriff’s officials now say it’s believed the gunman was targeting Knight, but it’s unclear if the other victims were also targeted or were caught in the crossfire.

The “L.A. Times” reports it’s believed the shooting is gang related and that Shug Knight was targeted because of his long association with the Compton Bloods gang.  The gunman remains on the loose.
