VIDEO: ‘VH1 Divas’ Honors Whitney Houston In Major Tribute
Sources reports VH1 will pay tribute to Whitney Houston for its next installment of VH1 Divas, Billboard has learned.
The network will tape the performance in Los Angeles in December, with Houston’s longtime musical director Rickey Minor on board as executive producer.
No artists have been confirmed for the tribute to Houston, a three-time performer on “Divas” in 1999, 2002 and 2003.
The tribute has already received the blessing of Houston’s family and her label partners at Sony. “We all felt that if any show could pay tribute to Whitney’s music, it would be Divas, VH1 president Tom Calderone tells Billboard.
“December felt like enough time where it wouldn’t be sad anymore, you’d want to celebrate her music.”
Since debuting in 1998, “Divas” has become one of VH1′s most-watched and best known franchises.
Previous performers include Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, Diana Ross, Cher, Tina Turner, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Adele and Kelly Clarkson. The 2011 installment, VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul, attracted 1.3 million total viewers and doubled the previous year’s average rating, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The Queen of soul Aretha Franklin,  couldn’t attend Houston’s funeral ceremony yesterday because of ongoing health issues or so we were told… I smell a lie!!!
Franklin, 69, canceled her scheduled appearance at Houston’s funeral service, citing leg spasms, but sources and reviews note that the soul diva was fine Saturday night when she performed the second of two soldout concerts at Radio City Music Hall.
Sources say Franklin paid tribute to Houston during her concert — was even feeling well enough to entertain 40 of her friends at the Ritz Carlton hotel on Central Park South after Saturday’s show. Hummmmm!!!!
An eyewitness says Franklin, sporting a curly blond hairstyle, arrived on the arm of her on-again, off-again fiance William Wilkerson.“It looked like everyone was having a great time.â€
Word on the street is Franklin pissed Whitney’s mom and family off after hearing comments she made during an interview she taped with Al Roker which is said to be really why she was absence from Houston’s funeral. Read More »

Aretha Franklin Sings Her Way Out Of A Ticket
I can’t hate on the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, for using her resources to get her out of a ticket. Now I don’t know if she ran outside singing Respect or what I just know that it ended with her signing her signature on an envelope from the meter maid and there being no ticket written for her.
