Kevin Clash, the voice of Elmo, as reported earlier was accused of a sexual relationship with at 16 year old boy. He took a leave of absence from Sesame Street and is denying all allegations. Sesame Street’s Bert And Ernie Are Not Gay

After a petition of 5,000 signatures pushing for Bert and Ernie to get married following NY state’s recent implementation of marriage equality, Sesame Street felt the need to set the record straight, totally: Bert and Ernie are not gay! Never have been, never will be. Responding to the petition, they released the following statement,

“Bert and Ernie are best friends. They were created to teach pre-schoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves. Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics (as most Sesame Street Muppets do), they remain puppets, and do not have a sexual orientation.”

Hmmm, do you think this statement will stop the gay rumors? Geez, it hasn’t for some celebrities that shall remain nameless.
