TLC Remembers Left Eye10th Year Death Anniversary : New Movie, New Album, & Tour

Today April 25th marks the passing of Lisa Lopes AKA Left Eye from the Grammy Award winning group TLC. Left Eye’s former band mate, Chilli took to twitter to post a press release on the behalf of herself & T-Boz in regards to Left Eye’s passing and upcoming events to celebrate the bands 20th anniversary.

Chilli and T-Boz have teamed up with VH1 for an upcoming biopic TV movie that will give fans a personal and detailed look at their career from their debut to now. The Movie is currently being casted out of LA.

“The word anniversary means a celebration. For us her death will never be a celebration, it’s still something that hurts,” says T-Boz. Group member Chilli agrees, “Lisa is our sister. You never get over losing a family member. We love her and we miss her and that isn’t ever going to change.”

On top of 2012 being the 10th anniversary of Left Eye’s passing, it also marks the 20th anniversary of the groups introduction to the industry.

“This project is truly a dream come true for us,” says Chilli. ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ scribe Kate Lanier will pen the project, which documents TLC’s rise to fame with 1991′s “Ooooooohhh… On The TLC Tip” and their follow-up success with 1994′s “CrazySexyCool,” and eventually selling more than 65 million albums worldwide making them the biggest-selling girl group in history. In addition to the movie, TLC is working on a 20th anniversary package which will include tour dates, an album project with new music and several remixes on some of their favorite hits. Chilli and T-Boz say they are looking forward to giving new music to their eagerly awaiting fans and returning to the stage.
The Lisa Lopes Foundation will proudly benefaction the 1st Annual Left Eye Music Fest on Saturday, Jul 28, 2012 at the Porter Sandford III Performing Arts Center at 3181 Rainbow Drive in Decatur, GA. The family-fun event will compound and applaud Left Eye’s strange style and heterogeneous ambience in music, fashion, food and fun. Open to the public, the 1-day legal holiday featuring a kids concert, bent showcase, fashion show and star studded reverence concert, will follow the invitation-only Lisa Left Eye Lopes Press Reception and Legacy Celebration on her birthday; Sunday, May 27, 2012. Proceeds from the disdainful accepting and music fest will good the programs and initiatives of the Lisa Lopes Foundation.
