Okay y’all, I have to get this off my chest. Every other week — and I do mean every other week — I get pulled over by the police. It does not matter what I am driving, where I am going or how careful I am being. If I am behind the wheel in this city, sooner or later those blue lights are flashing in my rearview mirror, and I am sick of it.
Now do not get me wrong, I respect the law and I keep my paperwork right — license, registration, insurance, all of it is in order every single time. And every single time, after a few questions and a long look at me and my car, I am sent on my way without so much as a ticket. So if nothing is wrong, why does this keep happening to me over and over again?
Anybody who knows me knows I am always on the move. One night I am shooting a red carpet downtown, the next I am at a studio session, an album release party or a charity event on the other side of town. My job keeps me on the road at all hours, and somewhere along the way, minding my own business started looking suspicious. A Black man driving a nice car at night should not be a reason to get stopped, but that is exactly what it feels like.

So I decided to put it on camera and let y’all hear it straight from me, because I know I am not the only one this happens to. Press play, laugh with me a little, and then talk to me in the comments — how many of you get pulled over for no reason? Because every other week is just too much.
