Famed attorney Gloria Allred made a powerful appearance at the courthouse during the Sean “Diddy” Combs trial. On the steps, she spoke to the media about due process and letting the legal system do its job.

Gloria Allred is one of the most famous women’s rights attorneys in the country, known for representing accusers in high-profile cases against powerful men. She is not part of the criminal case against Combs, but she represents some of the people who have filed civil lawsuits against him, including Thalia Graves, who sued in September 2024.
Allred has described the cases against Combs as being about power and the abuse of power. At the courthouse, though, her message was about letting the process play out: he is presumed innocent, and it’s up to prosecutors to prove their case in front of the jury.
The federal trial opened this week in Manhattan, where Combs faces charges including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He has pleaded not guilty.

Why Due Process Matters
In the American legal system, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty, and prosecutors must prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt. Civil lawsuits work differently, with a lower standard of proof and money damages instead of prison time. That is why high-profile cases can play out in both criminal and civil courts at the same time.
Allred’s message on the courthouse steps was a reminder that the courtroom, not social media, is where the facts get tested. Whatever people think about a case, letting the process play out fairly matters for everyone involved.
