Abbott Elementary is back. The Emmy-winning comedy kicked off Season 6 on ABC Wednesday night with an episode called “Jungle Classroom.”

Janine, played by creator Quinta Brunson, got inspired by TikTok and tried to turn her second-grade classroom into a jungle before the first day of school. Water misters and a fire pit were part of the plan. Safety codes were not.

Meanwhile, Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph) faked getting hit by a car to get a crossing guard brought back, when she was really just distracted by her phone. Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter) wanted her old classroom back from a new teacher. Principal Ava (Janelle James) banned teachers from putting students to work on setup.

Gregory (Tyler James Williams) had a big day too. His straightforward ask to the superintendent got the school portable air conditioners, but his new hire turned out to be an AI-generated deepfake applicant. That is a very 2026 problem.
